UDM Law’s Project SALUTE Hosts Veterans’ Legal Clinic in Lansing (Veterans)

University of Detroit Mercy School of Law’s (UDM Law) Project SALUTE is traveling across the State of Michigan in a mobile law office, a recreational vehicle custom designed, built and generously donated by General Motors Corporation, providing FREE legal advice to low-income veterans on their federal veterans’ disability and pension benefits claims.Utilizing a grant from the State of Michigan, Project SALUTE will host a veterans’ legal clinic in Lansing on Tuesday, September 7, at the Volunteer’s of America, located at 430 North Larch St., from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

The Kiwanis Club of Holt is holding its fall paper drive Friday, September 10 and Saturday September 11 at the Holt Plaza on the corner of Holt and Aurelius Roads. Along with the paper drive, the club is taking donations of nonperishable food items for the Holt Food Bank.

Run & Walk for the Animals 2010 (Family Event)

Location: Fitzgerald Park, Grand Ledge

Join us for the Capital Area Humane Society's Run & Walk for the Animals 2010! All proceeds from the event are in support of the CAHS mission: to promote the humane treatment of companion animals through protection, placement, education and example. The event is a 5k optional run or walk through the streets of Grand Ledge or a 1 mile walk on the trails of the park. Participants are encouraged to bring their dogs along! Attorney Lori Hinkley will be leading a group called “New Life for Single Moms” designed just for single moms on Wednesdays starting September 15th from 7:15 - 8:00 p.m at Grace Bible Church. As a former single mom herself, she understands those issues of particular concern for today’s single mom. A $2 workbook donation is suggested. The Okemos High School Bands announce their 21sth Annual Car Wash-A-Thon to be held on Saturday, September 25, 2010 from 9:00 a.m. through 4:00 p.m. in the Okemos High School parking lot.FREE CAR WASHES ALL DAY LONG!!!!!!!Donations are welcomed and appreciated. We at Faith Church are honoring a major milestone in our church's history with a month-long celebration this September. New Life for Single Moms (Ladies event)

Location: Grace Bible Church

Attorney Lori Hinkley will be leading a group called “New Life for Single Moms” designed just for single moms on Wednesdays starting September 15th from 7:15 - 8:00 p.m at Grace Bible Church. As a former single mom herself, she understands those issues of particular concern for today’s single mom. A $2 workbook donation is suggested. Activities will be provided for children of all ages during the same time period. The church is located at 1000 South Canal Road in Delta Township. For more information or to sign-up call 622-4722.
